Studs and Duds (slightly revised) is back for another edition, as we recap this past series of games!

Studs:

1. Paul Skenes (PIT – SP)

  • April 25 vs. Dodgers: 6.1 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 9 K
  • Outdueled Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a 3–0 shutout, once again showcasing his elite level arm

2. Ceddanne Rafaela (BOS – OF)

  • April 27 vs. Guardians: 5 RBIs, including a 3-run HR
  • Led the Red Sox to a 13–3 victory with a standout offensive performance.  

3. Andy Pages (LAD – OF)

  • April 27 vs. Pirates: 4-for-4, HR
  • Led the Dodgers’ offense in a 9–2 win, stepping up after Tyler Glasnow’s early exit.  

4. Tarik Skubal (DET – SP)

  • April 27 vs. Orioles: 6 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 11 K
  • Dominated the Orioles to complete a series sweep. Once again showing why he is an early AL Cy Young candidate.

5. Shohei Ohtani (LAD – DH)

  • April 26 vs. Pirates: 3 extra-base hits
  • Showcased his hitting abilities in an 8–4 victory.  

Duds:

1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto (LAD – SP)

  • April 25 vs. Pirates: 3 ER allowed in a 3–0 loss
  • Outpitched by rookie Paul Skenes, making a rare off night for Yamamoto.  

2. Shōta Imanaga (CHC – SP)

  • April 27 vs. Phillies: 3 ER (after scoring change)
  • A controversial scoring decision raised his ERA from 2.38 to 3.18.  

3. Gage Workman (CHC – 3B)

  • April 27 vs. Phillies: Costly error led to 3 runs
  • A misplay that significantly impacted the game’s result.  

4. Orioles Offense as a whole

  • April 27 vs. Tigers: 0 runs in a 7–0 loss
  • Struggled against Tarik Skubal, failing to generate offense.  

5. Tyler Glasnow (LAD – SP)

  • April 27 vs. Pirates: Exited after 1 inning due to shoulder injury
  • His early departure tested the Dodgers’ bullpen depth.
