While patience is key with struggling stars, smart fantasy users are always looking the waiver wire for fresh players. As we move into Week 6 of the season, a few lesser-known players are starting to rise and could become stars in your lineup if scooped up early.

Chandler Simpson (OF, Rays)

Chandler Simpson is the definition of speed. After stealing 104 bases in the minors in 2024, Simpson got the call-up to the Rays last week. In his first five MLB games, he already has two steals and is batting leadoff in some games.

In most fantasy leagues, stolen bases are a valuable commodity. If he keeps getting on base, he could quickly become a must-start in roto and category leagues.

Heโ€™s also hitting over .300 and showing solid plate discipline.

Agustรญn Ramรญrez (C, Marlins)

Need a rising catcher? Agustรญn Ramรญrez might be your guy. The Marlinsโ€™ young backstop has exploded onto the scene, hitting .833 in his first few games (yes, you read that right) and showcasing both power and speed.

Itโ€™s rare to find a catcher with double-digit homer and stolen base potential. Ramรญrez mashed 25 homers and stole 22 bases in the minors last year. The Marlins are desperate for offense, and he could lock down the starting job very quickly.

Heโ€™s shown excellent plate coverage and a patient approach, both good signs for sustainable production.

Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF, Cubs)

Pete Crow-Armstrong had a coming-out party this week, smashing a three-run homer and stealing two bases in a single game against Houston. The Cubs have been bringing him along slowly, but after this kind of explosive performance, itโ€™s hard to keep him out of the lineup.

PCA brings elite defense and strong fantasy tools to the table. His speed, sneaky power, and improving plate discipline could make him a strong contributor by midseason.

PCA could also soon find himself batting higher in the Cubsโ€™ lineup, further boosting his appeal.

Waiver wire success often separates championship teams from the middle of the pack. Grab these emerging stars before your competition even realizes theyโ€™re heating up.
